About Jordan Furrow

I am an outspoken leftist activist passionate about social justice and community empowerment. I have worked as a political canvasser, community organizer, and neighborhood outreach worker and have interned as an advisor to LBGT college students, a mental health counselor at a non-profit community health clinic, and as a trainer/presenter for homeless youth organizations.

Born in Southern California, I went to High School in Virginia and spent the last nine years of my life at Michigan State University, first getting a Bachelor’s degree in Social Relations and then a Masters in Social Work. My time in school was almost always supplemented with (if not dominated by) liberal/radical activism, working for Queer and Trans rights, Immigrant solidarity, opposing the US wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, campaigning for local and global economic justice, and drawing attention to police brutality and racism on campus.

I am an “out and proud” Trans Man and got my organizing start in the Queer and Transgender communities; I co-founded the gender performance troupe Drag King Rebellion and appeared several times in TransGeneration, a documentary about Transgender college students in America. I’m most passionate about amplifying marginalized voices within our own communities and uncovering the deep and profound connections amongst all oppressed peoples, while at the same time supporting individual communities in their unique quests for empowerment.
