That’s So ‘Jock Who Can Complete a Pass but Not a Sentence’

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

I was walking through the mall the other day and saw this sign on one of the posted advertising placards:

IMAG0032

The sign reads:

That’s so “Jock who can complete a pass but not a sentence.” Think thats mean? How do you think “that’s so gay” sounds? Hurtful. So, knock it off.

I love it! It definitely got my attention and I noticed the link at the bottom of the sign: ThinkB4YouSpeak.com. Think Before You Speak is a campaign aimed at decreasing the use of anti-LBGT slurs like “That’s So Gay.” Their website is innovative and effective. Check it out and get involved today!

American College of Pediatricians is a Homophobic Farce

Friday, April 9th, 2010

In 2002, a small group of homophobic pediatricians defected from the American Academy of Pedatrics after it adopted a resolution in support of gay parents. These unethical practitioners then founded the American College of Pediatrics, which is not actually a college at all, but an anti-LBGT activist organization whose board is made up of a significant number of anti-gay, anti-trans activists from the National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality.

In March of this year, the ACP sent a letter to every Superintendent of every US school district citing non-existent studies or misinterpreting data in an attempt to “prove” that a) people are not born Queer or Trans and thus, b) LBGT youth can be “fixed” with corrective therapy.

This is utter nonsense and incredibly dangerous. Medical practitioners are in a unique position to influence public opinion and school policy in powerful ways because of their status as “experts.”

The hacks behind ACP are not experts. They are a group of anti-gay, anti-trans activists making up statistics or perverting legitimate science for their own hate-filled agendas.

A friend of mine recently said that half of activism is being informed, and I completely agree.

The ACP is trying to sabotage Queer and Trans youth by spreading misinformation, so its up to us to be informed and keep others informed.

Although I’m not psyched about the American Psychological Association’s classification of Transgender existence as a psychological disorder, they have compiled a real resource guide for schools that accurately cites real studies and encourages schools to support their LBGT students.

From the APA’s Just the Facts resource guide:

The idea that homosexuality is a mental disorder or that the emergence of same-sex attraction and orientation among some adolescents is in any way abnormal or mentally unhealthy has no support among any mainstream health and mental health organizations.

Consider taking action by presenting your local school officials with the APA’s resource guide to combat the ACP’s anti-LBGT propaganda!

Rachel Maddow Slams Homophobic Fake-Therapist

Wednesday, December 9th, 2009

Last night, Rachel Maddow interviewed author Richard Cohen on The Rachel Maddow Show. Cohen’s book, Coming Out Straight claims that:

  • Homosexuality is a disorder that one can simply “choose” to renounce
  • Homosexuals are 12 times more likely to molest children than heterosexuals

His book is now being used by politicians in Uganda to justify proposed legislation to imprison and, in some cases, kill people caught “engaging in acts of homosexuality.” The law not only targets Uganda’s LBGT communities, but friends and and family who fail to report their loved ones, and even landlords who rent to homosexuals. Uganda’s anti-gay movement is using Cohen’s ludicrous and discredited “statistics” as proof of the horrors of homosexuality, thus significantly contributing support for this law.

Watch the interview below:

“I realize I was taking the risk of helping promote you and the way that you think about these things by putting you on the air,” Maddow said. “But I do think that you’ve actually got blood on your hands because of the way you’ve been used, your organization has been used, and your staffer has been used to make this legislation a reality [if it passes].”

Rachel was right to cover this. We need to know that there are people out there saying this bullshit. And people who might be taken in by this nonsense need to be aware that its not just some type of disagreement about “lifestyle choices”; this is about murder. Potentially state-sanctioned murder that conservative christian activists from the US may have had a role in developing (this legislation was proposed shortly after a visit from American anti-gay christian missionaries).

If this legislation passes, Richard Cohen will most certainly have blood on his hands.
